The primary purpose of the PBS Supervisor position is to provide supervision and support of the daily operations of Hospital Billing and Collections in Patient Business Services. The PBS Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the collections and follow-up of institutional claims.
Key Functions
- Supervise and coordinate hospital commercial collections functions associated with inpatient and outpatient hospital billing.
- Supervise and coordinate hospital commercial follow up activities.
- Responsible for overseeing that commercial letter of agreements are monitored for correct reimbursement.
- Oversee daily processes associated with patient accounting system
- Responsible for monitoring staff productivity to assure departmental, unit and individual goals are met consistently.
- Ensure quality standards are maintained and that QA is monitored to ensure compliance with standard AR practices and collections regulations.
- Ensure that proper policies and procedures are followed.
- Provide training and counseling as required.
- Prepare and provide management reports to Manager and Director to track key financial indicators. Examples of reporting would include key financial indicators, Aged AR, denial adjustments
- Responsible for working with the Manager to ensure all WQs are updated and revised as needed.
- Must maintain current knowledge related to commercial follow-up and appeal regulations.
- Responsible for articulating billing and collections requirements and updates to assigned staff.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education
Required: Associate's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field. Six years of accounting or business office experience to include two years of supervisory experience.
Experience
Required: Two years of hospital or physician business experience with preferred degree. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
Preferred: Eight years of progressively responsible experience in a business office, to include four years of supervisory experience in a hospital or physician business office setting.
