As a Magenta Referral Coordinator, you'll own our health care referral process end-to-end, and serve as the referral system navigator for our Patient Customers and their families.

We are looking for

What is the work

Customer Service

– Serves as referral system navigator and point of contact for patients and families; serves as first point of contact with patients and families to ask questions and raise concerns

– Assists patients in problem-solving potential issues related to the health care system, financial, or social barriers (e.g., request interpreters as appropriate, transportation services, or prescription assistance)

– Reviews referral details and expectations with patients

– Reminds patients of scheduled appointments via mail or phone

– May assume advocate role on a patient-s behalf with the carrier to ensure approval of necessary supplies / services in a timely fashion

– Establishes / maintains relationships with identified service providers


– Owns referral process end-to-end; referral initiation to receiving specialist notes / results; documents patient records

– Ensures complete and accurate registration, including patient demographic and current insurance information

– Compiles information related to patient's clinical background and referral needs; provides appropriate clinical information to specialist in compliance with referral guidelines

– Maintains ongoing tracking (database entry, if applicable) and appropriate documentation on referrals to promote team awareness and ensure patient safety

– Contacts review organizations and insurance companies to ensure prior approval requirements are met; provides necessary medical information (e.g., history, diagnosis, prognosis)

– Ensures referrals are addressed in a timely manner

– Ensures patient's primary care chart is up to date with information on specialist consults, hospitalizations, ER visits, and health-related community organizations

– Provides specific medical information to financial services to maximize reimbursement to the hospital and physicians

– Keeps clinic providers updated, based on severity of patient's health issue

What is your background

– High school diploma

– 5+ years of experience in clinic referral coordinator duties
