Houston’s premiere childhood hunger relief organization seeks a Senior Operations Manager with a personal passion for doing good. Kids’ Meals (KM) is a unique not-for-profit organization with a mission to end childhood hunger in Houston by delivering free healthy meals year-round to the doorsteps of Houston’s hungriest preschool-aged children and through collaboration provide their families with resources to end the cycle of poverty. We are seeking a Senior Program Manager who, under the direct supervision of the Chief Operations and Program Officer (COPO), will direct and manage Kids’ Meals daily program operations at the Houston and Montgomery County (MOCO) locations. This will include administrative and managerial responsibilities that align with Kids’ Meals mission and ensure daily operations are efficient and effective. Duties will include: Under the direction of the COPO will manage Program employees within the Program and Operations Department to include, but not limited to, recruiting, hiring and training. Will manage the program staff in Houston and the MOCO locations. Effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Mentor staff by clearly articulating department goals and expectations to promote a culture of top performance, collaboration and high morale. Coach, counsel and provide timely feedback to employees to ensure department alignment and employee’s professional growth. Hold self and staff accountable for complying with Kids’ Meals policy and procedures; coach, counsel and re-direct employees as needed to ensure continued compliance. Troubleshoot operations issues, proposing changes to systems and processes to address issues. Coordinate staffing schedules to ensure appropriate coverage and approve payroll time sheets. Coordinate logistics and supply chain management, which include driver routes.


Key personal characteristics include displaying an exemplary sense of integrity and accountability in support of the Kids’ Meals mission, possessing a high degree of professionalism and a drive for results. They should understand transportation laws, regulations and safety rules and comply with all state and federal laws, and Kids’ Meals policies and procedures. Have a high level of flexibility in a fast-paced environment. Be proactive, self-motivated and mission driven. Perform multiple tasks; adapt on short notice; and execute accordingly. Communicate effectively, persuasively and courteously with all stakeholders. Must have a High School diploma; a college degree from an accredited four-year educational institution is preferred. Minimum 3 years’ experience in operations and/or programs management; preferably in non-profit. Minimum 5 years managerial experience, including managing hourly associates. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint. Experience managing facilities and operations personnel.
