Ombudsman
As an Ombudsman you will be a strong advocate for individuals’ quality of care and quality of life living in long-term care facilities by:
ü Advocating for residents’ rights and being a source of support and information for residents, their families, and facilities, as well as serving as a champion for residents between disparate parties
ü Serving as a source for education on resident rights, mediating talks with families and/or facilities, speaking in care plan meetings, filing complaints with appropriate agencies, and representing residents in fair hearings
ü Visiting nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the region
ü Performing educational and outreach activities at facilities and regional events
ü Entering monthly program activities in the State’s Ombudsman information management system
ü Ensuring individuals program performance goals are met and reported accurately
Key Qualifications
ü Experience as a certified ombudsman, preferred.
ü Advocacy and compassion for older adults and persons with disabilities.
ü Effective mediating and conflict resolution skills
ü Ability to learn and apply long-term care, Medicare and Medicaid regulations, policies and procedures
ü Enjoying working in a team atmosphere
ü Proficiency in all Microsoft Office software applications
ü Has high ethical standards and integrity
Do you have…
ü A degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study
ü Less than 1 year of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, school or in job related duties
