Academic Coordinator - Graduate Medical Education
The Academic Coordinator position is to coordinate the daily operations and activities of the rotating residency/fellowship training programs, provides management guidance to residents/fellows on program and GME policies, and non-clinical aspects of the program. Develops understanding of ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) policies and procedures, including familiarity with the Common Program Requirements, and specialty specific requirements. Provides administrative support for program coordinators and residents/fellows. Perform complex, independent, administrative duties related to human resources, educational appointment, academic program support, and database maintenance, ensuring compliance with institutional regulations, for the Institution's GME rotating trainees.
Key Job Functions
Perform complex, independent administrative duties related to human resources.
- Process all aspects of educational appointments and reappointments in compliance with departmental and institutional policies, government regulations, and appropriate oversight agency requirements for institution's residents and fellows, including, but not limited to, GME rotators, and back-up for medical students
- Responsible for all Onboarding of rotating residents, fellows and medical students
- Conduct credentialing and verification of medical education of incoming trainees and assist with licensure and permit processes
- Tracks, documents, and reports on educational activities for residents, and fellows, for the purpose of meeting board certification requirements, meeting program accreditation requirements, and complying with the policies and procedures of the Office of Graduate Medical Education (OGME)
- Manage and maintain information systems and databases pertinent to educational programs and trainees
- Responsible for arranging all event activities pertaining to Orientation
- Monitor and track trainee leave time in New Innovation
- Process HRIS error reconciliation; provide timely and accurate reporting; serve as a back-up for other members of the GME credentialing team
- Responsible for department Procard
- Responsible for gathering documentation for all GME subcommittee meetings and preparing agendas/minutes for each meeting- GMEC, Curriculum Sub-committee, Wellness, Diversity, Budget Sub-committee, Internal Review Sub-committee, and the Patient Safety committee
Provide leadership, guidance, support and education to programs and departments regarding educational appointment of clinical trainee titles
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies, government regulations, and appropriate oversight agency requirements
- Serve as liaison between a participating institution and the MD Anderson host department for affiliate programs/schools with which MD Anderson has an education program agreement
Education
Required: Bachelor's degree.
Experience
Required: Three years professional human resources, education or business experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
Preferred: Three years professional Graduate Medical Education, residency or fellowship experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
