Under the supervision of the Health Impact Team (HIT) Obesity Reduction Program Team Lead, and with oversight and guidance from the Nutrition and Chronic Disease Prevention Manager, the Registered Dietitian will be responsible for high quality nutrition assessments and education to Harris County residents. They will collaborate amongst the team effectively in order to continually improve programs geared toward obesity reduction, physical activity and nutrition.
Clinical/ Community Resources
- Provides engaging, evidenced based nutrition education to individuals and groups within Harris County Assesses and documents nutritional needs, diet restrictions, and anthropometric data to implement nutrition counseling and follow up plans for clients
- Adapts nutrition counseling to specific economic, social, cultural, and age-appropriate need of patient to enhance compliance and health outcomes
- Participates in community health events in collaboration with various interagency departments
- Assists in the development and creation of nutrition and physical activity curricula, trainings, and presentations to meet the needs of the target populations
- Plans and conducts trainings in dietetics and nutrition for healthcare personnel as well as the general public
- Participates in community health events in collaboration with various interagency departments
- Develops relationships and partnerships with prospective community partners within Harris County
- Type letters, memorandums, agreements, flyers as assigned
- Registers, updates, and clinically documents in client records in Epic per departmental standards
- Assists with database creation and management by performing data entry extraction, tabulation, reporting ,and distribution for the DSRIP Program as requested
- Records and submits required programmatic and departmental reports documenting work activities according to established protocol
Other
- Responsibilities include other duties as assigned, including special tasks involved in responding to an emergency event
- Candidate in this role will be expected to assist with other aspects of the program when needed

Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field from an (ACEND) accredited college or university
- Registered Dietitian (RD) CURRENTLY commissioned with the Commission on Dietetics Registration (CDR)
- Licensed to practice as a Licensed Dietitian (LD) by the State of Texas or able to obtain license within the first 30 days of employment
- One year of experience providing Nutrition Education
- Basic skills in using MS Office software such as MS Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint
- Experience with the use of SharePoint
- Valid driver's license (Tx Upon Hire)
