The Community Health Specialist is responsible for providing administrative support to the Sr. Manager of Equitable Access and the Community Health Supervisor as well as assisting with CRC and Community Health Market Trailer activities. This position requires exemplary organizational, communication, and time-management skills. Responsibilities include developing, documenting and maintaining procedures for CRC programs, in addition to assisting with monthly data collection and reporting. Other responsibilities include submitting purchase requests and tracking these items to keep accurate budgeting records, responding to and sending emails, and serving clients through Community Health distributions. This position requires sitting at a desk and standing outdoors for prolonged periods of time. Staff in this position must be passionate about helping others, about advancing health equity and believe in HFB’s mission.


Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Develop, document, and maintain procedures for CRC programs 
  • Work with Community Health Distribution Assistant to efficiently collect monthly metrics and enter into dashboard
  • Respond to all emails in a timely manner, clearly provide information on CRC programs and/or refer out to the appropriate team(s)
  • Submit purchase requests and help stock supplies in the CRC 
  • Assist with client intake and preparing orders when assisting at distributions
  • Assist with class preparation and food orders in the CRC
  • Collect volunteer or client stories 
  • Participate and engage in DEI activities and help brainstorm ideas to increase equitable access to services for clients

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education:

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Bilingual preferred 

Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong customer service skills and willingness to assist others 
  • Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Ability to operate computer, copier and other business equipment 
  • Attentive to detail
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
  • Skill in using computer applications including spreadsheet, database and word processing software
  • Ability to maintain records of materials, supplies, time, and work performed.
  • Ability to follow and enforce COVID safety rules and regulations
